Cary Grant was the original choice for Linus in Sabrina, but he was replaced by Humphrey Bogart. Bogart was not against playing the role, but he didn’t like his co-stars William Holden and Audrey Hepburn. When asked how he liked working with Hepburn, Bogart replied “It’s okay, as long as you don’t mind to make 20 takes.”

When Howard Hawks gave Lauren Bacall the choice to either work on a picture with Cary Grant or Humphrey Bogart, Bacall wanted to work with Cary Grant. Hawks ignored her choice and cast her alongside Bogart in To Have and Have Not instead.

At Humphrey Bogart’s funeral in 1957, Lauren Bacall (Bogart’s wife) placed a whistle in his coffin. This was a reference to the famous line “You know how to whistle, don’t you? You just put your lips together and blow.” from To Have and Have Not.
